It's great in the cold, I have 123 electronic ignition , it starts first time whatever the conditions and there is warm air from the heater after a couple of hundred yards of driving. Mine was down on power for a while-cause was a bolt on the drivers side cylinder inlet manifold having worked loose causing an intermittent air leak and occasional backfiring .

Its deferentially better now, though still not 100% convinced its as good as it could be!

STUCK WITH A CAT B OR NOT

Hi all, when all else fails turn to the font of all knowledge. This a long one but stick with me please.
Just to get all the p**s taking out of the way my wife car is a 1989 Citroen 2CV. Now you have stopped laughing can you help please?
We have had it for nearly 2 years now and to be honest it’s not a bad little car. We had a notice from the current insurance company saying it was due for renewal. Two days later we had another letter saying they will cancel the insurance because the car is a Cat B right off. We rang the DVLA, no record of this. They give us another number to ring, something to do with fraud and insurance??. They confirm in 1999 it was a Cat B right off. We have MOTs from the previous owner going back 2002. He was Doctor and one would assume a responsible chap. He was using it regularly (you can tell by the mileage on the MOT) so you would think he had insurance for it.
I have even thought about trying for a Q plate like a kit car but I could do with some advice on where to go with this (preferable not the scrap yard). I am now at a bit of a loss what to do. I have looked on the net but no definitive answers.
Is it a ringer, Cat B or just a clerical error? Who can I sort it out with?
Thanks for the help in advance. Chris.

The First Technical Article - Adding some Light Hoods!

The First Technical Article - Adding some Light Hoods!

My experience of embellishing my beautiful 2CV with some light hoods.

After purchasing two headlamp hoods (not sure of the proper term) at the (Winchester) weekend I decided to have a go at fixing them myself. I don’t know, yet, the technical language that I should be using – so bare with me. Here follows how I managed to fix them using much advice and a few tips gleaned from experienced people I met at Winchester (thank you!). I do not claim to know very much and would love any advice, tips or just re-write this article! All help gratefully received...
